welly-boot:

You haven’t been queerbaited. Kl/ance was never going to be canon y’all just convinced yourselves it was, and Shiro is still LGBTQ+ as a single man they never said Shiro and Adam were going to get back together. A character doesn’t need to explicitly be in a relationship to be LGBTQ+. Y’all literally don’t seem to understand what queerbaiting is

My dude. My man or woman or nonbinary person. It’s not LGBTQ+ representation if it isn’t explicitly stated in the show. If you had watched that season without seeing that interview? You’d have no idea Adam and Shiro were engaged. The crew has stated Adam was only a ploy to get Shiro out of the closet but it was never stated or even solidly hinted at that they were engaged. It’s not representation if it isn’t explicit in the show. It’s just another Dumbledore case of “he’s gay, it just wasn’t relevant in Harry’s journey”.
As for Klance? It’s less obvious there. But they have tagged videos as Klance; literally marketing their stuff via a gay relationship which is not going to be canon.
We were queerbaited.

lancesturtleneck:

they really had the audacity to tag klance in youtube videos, to sell shirts at hot topic with keith and lance on them and no other pairing, to code scenes with keith and lance romantically, to parallel keith and lance scenes to canonical relationships in the show, to say in interviews that klance made sense and was a natural progression of their relationship, to photoshop klance into thumbnails for videos, and just manipulate so many people through queerbaiting, and then put those two characters both into heterosexual relationships in the same season with no warning and barely any chemistry between them and their “love interests” like damn i love allura and axca is cool but at least develop their relationship so it makes sense but i guess that’s too off brand for voltron huh!

ezoring:

anyway dreamworks tagging official videos as klance is pretty damn landmark. They’re intentionally trying to attract views via a gay relationship- therefore, if they never intend to make it canon, its clear-cut queerbaiting. this is them making their bed. they had better lie in it.

imagine-fun:

so i’ve seen a lot of people defending what VLD writers did…

people aren’t mad because shiro didn’t get with adam. not even close. we’re mad because shiro isn’t valid rep. adam was supposed to be a way for him to show that. it feels like adam was added in last second, since he got less screen time than the space mice and was immediately killed off. it’s just sloppy writing. shiro is still gay without being in a gay relationship, sure. but the point of lgbt rep is to be…well…represented. having a character be gay but not having them be in a gay relationship or show EXPLICITLY that they were in a past gay relationship or at least TALK about past/present feelings for someone of the same sex…it just doesn’t count as rep. people who are casual fans and don’t follow vld on twitter wouldn’t know that shiro is gay. little kids who watch the show wouldn’t know that shiro likes guys unlike shows like steven universe which give actual, valid rep. it’s still queerbaiting. so please, stop making this about ships so that you can protect your precious homophobic creators. it’s not about adashi. it’s not about klance. it’s about us, the lgbt+ viewers who got extremely fucked over.
