Okay so is nobody gonna talk about how Huey literally had an erratic panic attack when his mask fogged up in the dark water?
He’s hyperventilating, and is unable to even effectively cry out for shortness of breath. He’s clawing at his mask and thrashing about. What a heart-wrenching moment for me, his mother!!!
This actually plays into his fear of the unknown, which was covered in Terror of the Terra-firmians! all those eons ago in Season 1, episode 5.
I think we all know with certainty that Huey loses a good deal of courage the closer his visibility gets to 0.
“At least I’ll know what’s crushing me!”
I have so much respect for the Ducktales team and their continuity. Honestly. Huey has this fear, not of the dark, but of not being able to see in a tough or dangerous situation. It’s such a specific trait, and they kept it going. I love it I love him my SON.
The animation has gotten so much better. I marveled at this whole episode.
This moment was phenomenal and though I adore this sequence I also have to say…
@squorkal! Reign in your child he is being disruptive and causing the other children unnecessary stress!!
Honestly, what I love about this scene is showing the “dark side” of having anxiety or self-doubt. Sometimes, to avoid going to do things I’m anxious about, I’ll talk about why it makes me anxious, and unintentionally (or intentionally) make them anxious, as well, to avoid having to go. He is being manipulative for his own benefit, yes. But he’s scaring the other kids as much as he, himself, was scared. He was being selfish as a direct effect of his anxiety, and I think it’s interesting, to put it simply.
@heythatsdeep I’m tagging you because I want to know your thoughts cuz you’re cool
